Palestinian Man Faces 15-Month Prison Sentence at Denpasar District Court

Palestinian national Ali HA Abuteebi, also known as A Vicey Alex (29), has been recommended for a prison sentence of 1 year and 3 months in a case involving the theft of an iPhone 17 Pro Max and a MacBook Pro with a total value of Rp 58.248 million. The sentencing demand was read out by public prosecutor Rizki Nur Annisa during the trial at the Denpasar District Court on Tuesday (11/8/2026).

“We demand that the panel of judges at the Denpasar District Court examining and adjudicating this case declare the defendant Ali HA Abuteebi, also known as A Vicey Alex, legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the criminal act as charged,” the prosecutor stated in the sentencing demand.

“We demand that the defendant be sentenced to imprisonment for 1 year and 3 months, reduced entirely by the period of arrest and detention already served by the defendant,” the prosecutor continued.

The case began when the defendant ordered one iPhone 17 Pro Max 512 GB in Deep Blue and one MacBook Pro 14 M5 in black from PT Cellular World Indonesia’s Teuku Umar branch.

The two items were then delivered to Felio Villa on Jalan Pantai Batu Bolong, Canggu, North Kuta, Badung, on 12 April 2026.

The total price of the two devices reached Rp 58,248,000. In the transaction, the defendant requested a cash-on-delivery (COD) payment system.

When the goods arrived at the villa, the defendant briefly inspected both devices. However, according to the prosecutor’s indictment, instead of making payment, the defendant carried both items to the second floor on the pretext of retrieving cash.

Despite being warned by store staff, the defendant reportedly continued to take the iPhone and MacBook to the second floor. Store staff later found a bedroom window open and the defendant no longer at the location.

CCTV footage subsequently showed the defendant running out from the rear area of the villa while carrying something. He then got into a metallic blue Toyota Raize with registration number DK 1150 ACG and left the scene.

As a result of the incident, PT Cellular World Indonesia suffered a loss of Rp 58,248,000. The prosecutor charged Ali with violating Article 486 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

After the sentencing demand was read out, the case now awaits the defence plea from the defendant or his legal counsel before the panel of judges delivers its verdict.
