The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has rejected Israel's expansionist plans for the West Bank. The ministry affirmed that the state of Palestine is not for sale.

As reported by Al Jazeera on Friday (20/2/2026), the statement was issued by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry in response to comments made by Israel's top diplomat, Gideon Saar. The Palestinian side affirmed that the Palestinian people must remain in Palestine.

"The Palestinian people remain on their land, and those who must leave are the racist settler colonisers," the ministry wrote on X.

The Palestinian side also called on the world to reject Israel's attempts to annex another nation's territory. It stated that Israel has consistently sought to erase Palestine.

"It is time for the world to reject the rogue state that violates international law and carries out ethnic cleansing every day, and to stand up and confront terrorist settler groups who believe they can erase Palestinian reality and impose their expansionist plans on the Palestinian people," the statement continued.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry then affirmed that their country is not a commodity to be traded. "Palestine is not for sale, and Israel will not succeed," the ministry added.

The statement came after Saar's controversial speech the previous day at a UN Security Council meeting, where he rejected criticism of Israel's plans to effectively annex the occupied West Bank and claimed that "no other nation... has a stronger right than our historical and documented right to the biblical land."

Saar praised the Trump Peace Council and said Israel "will work to achieve its success."
