The Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Abdalfattah AK Alsattari, expressed profound emotion and appreciation for the strong support shown by the Indonesian people towards Palestine. According to him, this support has been palpable since his arrival in Indonesia to begin his assignment eight months ago.

He noted that attention towards Palestine is not only conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto but is also expressed by various leaders and layers of Indonesian society.

“Since I arrived in Indonesia eight months ago, I have begun to feel very significant support for Palestine. This is not the first time the President has addressed the situation in Palestine. In various speeches, Indonesian leaders have spoken about Palestine,” said Abdalfattah after attending the 100th Anniversary Thanksgiving Reception of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) in Ponorogo Regency, East Java, on Saturday (19/09/2026).

The atmosphere at Gontor became even more meaningful for him when Palestine was mentioned in President Prabowo’s speech and met with loud applause from the attendees. At that moment, Ambassador Abdalfattah approached the Indonesian President and placed a Palestinian keffiyeh around his neck as a form of respect and gratitude.

“I felt very happy to see him present, and I decided to give him the Palestinian keffiyeh to thank him,” he said.

According to Abdalfattah, the keffiyeh is more than just an object or a cultural symbol. To him, the keffiyeh carries the memory of the history and struggle of the Palestinian people. He stated that the gift served as an expression of gratitude to President Prabowo and all the people of Indonesia for their continuous support.
