Palestinian Ambassador: Our People Remain Resilient Amidst Struggle for Independence

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdalfatah A. K. Alsattari, has asserted that the Palestinian people will remain resilient and capable of defending themselves amidst the ongoing conflict to reclaim the Palestinian homeland. “Palestinian citizens are demonstrating to the world that they remain strong and capable of self-defence amidst the continuing conflict,” Ambassador Abdalfatah stated during a commemoration of the 78th anniversary of the Nakba event at the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta on Monday.

He noted that the struggle of the Palestinian people began when their land was seized by Israeli occupiers and will continue until Palestine achieves independence. According to him, despite facing daily attacks and loss of life in both Gaza and the West Bank, the Palestinian people persist and protect one another. “We are very confident that one day our country, Palestine, will be independent, Insha’Allah. Our children are strong, our women are strong, our people in Gaza and the West Bank are strong; they are capable of protecting themselves,” he said.

Abdalfatah added that the Nakba event will continue to be taught to future Palestinian generations so that the global community understands the extent of the suffering endured under Israeli occupation. “Therefore, every year we commemorate the Nakba event. We remember what happened to our ancestors and how Israel seized our land, killing thousands and wounding hundreds of thousands of others,” he remarked.

Al-Nakba refers to the tragic events occurring between 1947 and 1948, which resulted in the mass displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population from their homeland.
