Jakarta — Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattiri expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian government’s strong support for the Palestinian people.

“I did not anticipate such great support. In Indonesia, I cannot imagine how profound the love for Palestine is, the affection and love of the Indonesian people for Palestine,” Al-Sattiri said at a Palestinian Embassy iftar event in Jakarta on Friday evening.

Al-Sattiri will officially assume office as Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia in January 2026, replacing Zuhair Al-Shun, and will be the first ambassador from Gaza.

On this occasion, the ambassador shared his experience as a Gaza resident who has witnessed the direct suffering of the population there due to Israeli occupation. He recounted that several people wept upon learning of his Gaza origin, even before knowing he was an ambassador.

“When people learn that I am from Gaza, they start to cry. When I tell my family in Gaza, they also start to cry. Therefore, we deeply appreciate this great support. And we know that we are not alone,” he said.

He also conveyed that Indonesia and Palestine are one family. “We are one big family. We are together. We will work together in the future to see Palestine and Al-Aqsa Mosque liberated,” he added.

He emphasised that Palestine is not alone and stressed the importance of joint solidarity for the Palestinian struggle.

“We have very strong support, both for the people in Gaza and the West Bank,” he said.

Furthermore, he highlighted the strong emotional relationship between the Indonesian and Palestinian peoples, which he described as mutual love and support from the heart.
