Palestine Welcomes New Delhi Declaration
Ramallah (ANTARA) - The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday (12/9) welcomed the New Delhi Declaration at the 18th BRICS Summit in India, held on 12-13 September, which reaffirms support for the Palestinian struggle.
The Ministry specifically welcomed the rejection of the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their lands, including Jerusalem, the call to end the Israeli occupation, support for a two-state solution, support for full Palestinian membership in the UN, and support for an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state based on the 4 June 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Palestine also welcomed the declaration’s support for UNRWA and its mandate, as well as the call to protect holy sites and ensure access to them in Jerusalem, protect the Palestinian people, and ensure the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Palestine appreciates these stances as they align with international law and relevant UN resolutions, while emphasising the need to realise practical and concrete steps.
Furthermore, the ministry urged the international community to bear its legal and political responsibilities and to strive to implement and enforce resolutions of international legitimacy by ensuring an end to Israeli occupation violations and crimes, as well as all forms of forced displacement, settlement construction, and annexation.
The ministry also requested protection for the Palestinian people and the fulfilment of their legitimate national rights, particularly the right to self-determination.
It emphasised that the implementation of the stances and reaffirmations contained in the BRICS India declaration requires the cessation of the Israeli occupation and the fulfilment of the rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of their independent and sovereign state on their own land, with Jerusalem as its capital.
