Palestine: Israeli Siege of Al-Mughayyir Has Lasted 20 Days
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging the international community to take immediate, concrete steps to end the violence and siege conducted by Israel in Al-Mughayyir, West Bank. This action is viewed as a systematic effort to isolate the region and force its population to flee.
In an official statement on Saturday (29/8), Palestinian authorities revealed that Israel has imposed a “suffocating siege” on the town, located northeast of Ramallah, over the past 20 days. This policy has directly impacted the mobility and safety of civilians.
Based on gathered data, Israel has implemented strict controls on access to and from the town. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed the following: “These Israeli actions are an attempt to isolate and besiege the town militarily and economically, as well as to displace its inhabitants.”
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that the increase in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers is part of a policy to create a reality of terror and alter the demographic conditions on the ground.
Palestine is calling on the world’s nations not to stop at verbal condemnation. They are demanding concrete, preventative measures.
Conditions in the West Bank have continued to deteriorate since the outbreak of war in Gaza in October 2023. The most recent incident on Friday (28/8) recorded three Palestinians injured due to settler attacks in Al-Mughayyir. During the incident, Israeli forces reportedly also detained an ambulance attempting to evacuate the wounded.
