PT Hutama Karya (Persero) will operationalise the Palembang–Betung toll road on Section 1 (Palembang-Rengas) and Section 2 (Rengas-Pangkalan Balai) in functional mode to support smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Ramadan holiday exodus and return period.

Executive Vice President Secretary Mardiansyah stated that functional operation is proceeding in line with construction progress that has reached 79.40 per cent, along with cross-institutional coordination to ensure safety and road user service standards.

“The sections being opened have undergone safety checks and fulfilment of safety requirements and are ready to be used by road users during the designated operational period,” said Mardiansyah in an official statement on Friday (27 February 2026).

Under this scheme, the operationalised sections span approximately 53.2 kilometres, from station mark 42+500 to 95+700 on Lanes A and B.

As part of operational readiness, the company is installing temporary toll barrier gates at station mark 41+700 as the tapping location (card registration point) for users travelling along the Kayuagung–Palembang toll road.

Additionally, Rest and Service Areas (TIP) are being provided at station mark 71+200 on Lanes A and B with electrical and clean water utilities support.

Hutama Karya is also accelerating construction completion at several critical points, preparing transaction devices at barrier gates, and positioning personnel and operational vehicles to anticipate technical disruptions and emergency situations.

For traffic management, vehicle flow control is being implemented through staff placement at congestion-prone locations and coordination with relevant authorities.

The company is also ensuring signage completeness, temporary markings, road lighting, and safety barriers in accordance with regulations.

Previously, Hutama Karya together with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the Toll Road Regulatory Body (BPJT) and the South Sumatra National Road Implementation Office (BBPJN) conducted readiness monitoring of the toll road and rest areas to support functional operation during the Ramadan period.

The section is equipped with two toll gates—Rengas Gate and Pangkalan Balai Gate—as well as the main Musi V Bridge structure spanning 1.684 kilometres.

Hutama Karya targets accelerated construction to enable the toll road to operate at full capacity as planned, while strengthening regional connectivity and travel time efficiency in South Sumatra.
