Palembang Mayor Prohibits Civil Servants from Using Official Vehicles for Lebaran Holiday Travel
Palembang — The Mayor of Palembang, South Sumatra, Ratu Dewa, has prohibited civil servants (ASN) from using official government vehicles whilst travelling home for Lebaran 1447 Hijriah/2016.
“Official vehicles may only be used for governmental business and operational purposes, not for personal interests such as holiday travel,” said Ratu Dewa in Palembang on Tuesday.
He stated that the Palembang Municipal Government would conduct supervision of official vehicle usage during the Hari Raya Idul Fitri holiday period. Should any violations be discovered, his administration would not hesitate to impose sanctions on the civil servants involved.
“If anyone is caught using a government vehicle for holiday travel, there will certainly be sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations. We want all civil servants to maintain integrity and discipline,” he stressed.
He also reminded all civil servants not to extend their Lebaran holiday beyond the schedule set by the government. He urged employees to adhere to the collective leave arrangements and to return to work punctually after the holiday period ends.
“There should be no civil servants extending their leave without clear justification. Once the collective leave ends, everyone must return to work and arrive on time,” he said.
He considered civil servant discipline crucial to ensure that public services are not disrupted after the long Lebaran holiday. In particular, government activities typically resume normal operations immediately after the collective leave period concludes.
Dewa also requested the heads of Regional Government Organisations (OPD) within the Palembang Municipal Government to conduct supervision of their respective staff, particularly regarding attendance discipline after the Lebaran holiday.
He added that these regulations also form part of efforts to build a disciplined and professional work culture within the Palembang Municipal Government.
“We want civil servants at Palembang Municipal Government to serve as examples in terms of discipline and responsibility as state officials,” he concluded.
