Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Palembang-Betung-Tempino-Jambi section, a key National Strategic Project (PSN), is being expedited to improve strategic connectivity across Sumatra. Construction progress for the 69.2 km Palembang-Betung segment has reached 82.24%, with land acquisition at 87.45%. Meanwhile, the 170.7 km Betung-Tempino-Jambi section has achieved 58.34% construction progress and 69.18% land acquisition. Acting Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that the JTTS Palembang-Betung-Tempino-Jambi project is vital for strengthening Sumatra’s connectivity, particularly linking South Sumatra to Jambi. He highlighted its benefits for travel efficiency, smoother mobility, and regional economic growth. ‘This toll road is expected to alleviate congestion on national roads, providing more efficient travel times. It will also streamline logistics and distribution, supporting economic growth and regional connectivity across Sumatra,’ Hamdani said on Sunday, 31 May 2026. Hamdani added that Hutama Karya remains committed to phased completion while maintaining quality, safety, project governance, and active coordination with stakeholders. Support from various parties, including the central and local governments and land agencies, is crucial for ensuring timely progress. The Palembang-Betung-Tempino-Jambi section will serve as a key corridor enhancing southern Sumatra’s connectivity, facilitating public access, accelerating logistics, reducing traffic on existing national roads, and fostering new economic zones along the toll corridor. Through the JTTS, Hutama Karya continues to support the government’s efforts in delivering integrated, sustainable infrastructure that adds value for communities, enhancing regional competitiveness, widening provincial access, and driving new economic growth across Sumatra.
