Palembang cultural site
Palembang cultural site
From Rakyat Merdeka
What is behind the coercion to develop a commercial area on a
cultural reserve area, formerly the location of the
Garuda/Military Police Detachment headquarters, as the area is
protected by law? The people of South Sumatra are curious about
this as a cultural reserve site in Palembang has been misused for
business purposes.
Another question: What has Palembang municipality
administration set up a surveillance committee for? A regional
regulation to this effect has actually been issued.
In this context, we, the South Sumatra Social Group Front
(FrEM Sumsel), set up by 33 non-governmental organizations from
South Sumatra, are now preparing a class action suit against
relevant parties, particularly the license issuer (the
municipality administration) and the investors.
The front specifically reminds investors to think very, very
carefully before investing in this cultural reserve area because
the area is protected by law and belongs to the entire Indonesian
nation.
Our class action will not stop until the area is declared a
national cultural reserve park.
Palembang municipality head should leave behind fond memories,
instead of a black and damaging record when he ends his term of
office.
