Palembang-Betung Toll Road Exit Redirected to Pulo Rimau
Jakarta – PT Hutama Karya (Persero), in coordination with local police, has implemented traffic engineering measures on the Palembang-Betung functional toll road section between Kramasan and Pangkalan Balai, addressing prolonged congestion that had been occurring on East Sumatra Highway (Jalintim) and around the Pangkalan Balai toll gate.
Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) and Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that based on traffic analysis and evaluation conducted on Friday, 13 March 2026, significant vehicle queues were observed at the Pangkalan Balai toll exit. In response to these conditions, Hutama Karya in coordination with police implemented adjusted traffic management procedures beginning Saturday, 14 March 2026.
Under the new traffic management scheme, vehicles travelling from Kayu Agung towards Kramasan are now directed to exit through Pulo Rimau rather than Pangkalan Balai. This adjustment aims to reduce vehicle congestion, improve traffic flow efficiency, and optimise vehicle distribution across the Palembang-Betung functional toll road section.
To support implementation of the new traffic management measures, Hutama Karya and police have stationed officers at several strategic locations to manage traffic, conduct surveillance, and provide guidance to road users.
Hamdani urged road users, particularly holiday travellers, to maintain orderly driving behaviour, comply with posted traffic signs, and follow directions given by field officers. He emphasised that compliance with these measures is essential for ensuring safety and smooth travel for all users.
