Palembang Airport Serves 1.37 Million Passengers in First Half of 2026

Palembang (ANTARA) — Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (SMB) International Airport in Palembang recorded 1,371,262 passengers in the first semester of 2026, an increase of 1.20 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier, when the figure reached 1,355,008 passengers.

General Manager of SMB II Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, said in Palembang on Friday that alongside passenger growth, aircraft movements had also risen by 4.30 per cent.

“From January to June 2026, SMB II Airport served 9,781 aircraft movements, an increase compared with the first semester of 2025, which recorded 9,378 movements,” he said.

He explained that of the total aircraft movements, 9,069 were domestic flights and 712 were international flights.

Popular domestic routes from Palembang include Jakarta, Batam, Kualanamu and Pangkal Pinang, while for international routes, Kuala Lumpur remains passengers’ primary destination.

“We extend our thanks and appreciation to all service users, business partners, working partners and all stakeholders who have supported the operations and growth of SMB II Airport. This positive achievement is the result of the cooperation and trust placed in us,” he said.

With this achievement, SMB II Airport is optimistic it can continue to strengthen its role as the main connectivity gateway in South Sumatra while driving regional economic growth.
