Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport in Palembang, South Sumatra, delayed eight flights on Saturday because visibility fell below the minimum required aviation standards.

The General Manager of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated in Palembang on Saturday that the affected flights consisted of four arrivals and four departures, as visibility reached only 600 metres.

The affected incoming flights included QG 980 (Jakarta-Palembang), which performed a return to base (RTB), IU 933 (Yogyakarta-Palembang), IU 924 (Jakarta-Palembang), and GA 102 (Jakarta-Palembang).

Meanwhile, the four delayed departing flights were QG 981 (Palembang-Jakarta), IU 964 (Palembang-Jakarta), IU 871 (Palembang-Jakarta), and GA 107 (Palembang-Jakarta).

“These delays occurred due to visibility being below the minimum standard for flights,” he said.

Management is continuing to coordinate efforts to monitor weather developments around SMB II Palembang Airport. This coordination is being carried out to ensure that flight safety remains the top priority while visibility levels do not meet the required standards.

All passengers are also advised to continuously monitor the latest information regarding flight schedules through their respective airlines.
