Palapa-C1 stamps issued

JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia,
in cooperation with the Directorate General of Post and
Telecommunications and PT Satelindo will issue new stamps to mark
the launching of the Palapa-C1 satellite.

Pos Indonesia's president, Cahyana Ahmadi, said here yesterday
that the new series of stamps, with nominal values of Rp 300 and
Rp 700, will be issued at the end of this month.

Palapa-C1 is the country's first telecommunications satellite
of the new generation, which will be launched from Cape Canaveral
in Florida, the United States, on Jan. 31 (Feb. 1, Western
Indonesian Time). The satellite is owned by Satelindo. (icn)
