Palapa C has power problem

NEW YORK (Dow Jones): PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara said a
Palapa-C satellite has lost the ability to recharge batteries due
to an electrical power problem.

In a press release Tuesday, P.T. Pasifik, which jointly owns
the satellite with PT Satelindo of Indonesia, said the recharging
problem will interrupt transmission during solar eclipses in
March and September.

To maintain service during the eclipses, the company said it
plans to immediately transfer all customers of the satellite to
service on another Palapa-C satellite.

PT Pasifik Satelit, Jakarta, provides satellite
telecommunications products and services.
