Palangka Raya Marks 69th Anniversary with Commitment to Clean Governance

Palangka Raya marked its 69th anniversary on 17 July 2026. Mayor Fairid Naparin and Deputy Mayor Achmad Zaini used the occasion to reflect on the city’s development journey and reinforce their commitment to delivering clean, transparent, and accountable governance. Amid various urban development challenges, governance remains a crucial foundation for maintaining public trust and ensuring the effectiveness of every development programme. The Palangka Raya City Government demonstrated this commitment by successfully retaining an Unqualified Opinion (Wajar Tanpa Pengecualian or WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) for its Local Government Financial Reports (LKPD) for ten consecutive times. “This achievement shows the local government’s consistency in managing finances transparently, accountably, and in accordance with statutory regulations,” said Fairid. The success in maintaining the WTP opinion is the result of hard work and synergy across all regional apparatus within the Palangka Raya City Government. “This certainly motivates us to continue improving the quality of regional financial management, strengthening internal oversight, and ensuring that every development programme runs effectively and on target.” For the Palangka Raya City Government, Fairid continued, the WTP opinion is not merely an administrative award but the result of efforts to strengthen the financial management system, improve apparatus discipline, and build a work culture oriented towards public service. “Through strengthened governance, the government seeks to ensure that every budget managed provides real benefits for the community, from infrastructure development and improving the quality of education and health, to providing increasingly effective and efficient public services,” he said. In the spirit of Palangka Raya’s Anniversary, development continues to be directed through collaboration between the government, the Regional House of Representatives, businesses, academics, communities, and the media. Cross-sector synergy is an important asset in accelerating inclusive development and responding to the evolving needs of the community. “With increasingly good governance, the government has a stronger basis to encourage investment, expand public services, and enhance regional competitiveness at both the regional and national levels,” Fairid stated. At 69 years old, Palangka Raya continues to look to the future with optimism. “Consistency in maintaining financial transparency and accountability is crucial capital for realising sustainable development, improving community welfare, and strengthening Palangka Raya’s position as the capital of Central Kalimantan Province that is modern, inclusive, and competitive,” he said. Fairid invited all citizens to actively participate and collaborate in the success of various agendas prepared by the Palangka Raya City Government. “This year’s series of commemorations is not only a celebration but also a means to boost the growth of MSMEs, promote local culture, develop the tourism sector, and campaign for healthy living.”
