Palangka Raya Marks 69th Anniversary with Commitment to Clean Governance
INFO TEMPO - Palangka Raya turned 69 years old on 17 July 2026. Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Palangka Raya, Fairid Naparin and Achmad Zaini, used the milestone as a moment to reflect on the development journey whilst strengthening their commitment to delivering a clean, transparent, and accountable government.
Amid various urban development challenges, government governance has become an essential foundation for maintaining public trust and ensuring that every development programme runs effectively. The Palangka Raya municipal government has demonstrated this commitment by maintaining an Unqualified Opinion (Wajar Tanpa Pengecualian or WTP) from Indonesia’s Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) for ten consecutive years on its Regional Government Financial Reports (LKPD).
“This achievement demonstrates the regional government’s consistency in managing finances transparently, accountably, and in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations,” said Fairid. The success in maintaining the WTP opinion is the result of hard work and synergy across all agencies within the Palangka Raya municipal government. “This certainly motivates us to continue improving the quality of regional financial management, strengthen internal oversight, and ensure that every development programme runs effectively and hits its targets.”
For the Palangka Raya municipal government, Fairid continued, the WTP opinion is not merely an administrative accolade, but the result of efforts to strengthen the financial management system, improve the discipline of the apparatus, and build a work culture oriented towards public service. “Through strengthened governance, the government strives to ensure that every budget managed delivers tangible benefits for the community, from infrastructure development and improvements in education and healthcare quality, to increasingly effective and efficient public services,” he said.
In the spirit of Palangka Raya’s anniversary, development continues to be driven through collaboration between the government, the regional parliament (DPRD), the business community, academics, communities, the media, and the public. Cross-sector synergy is an important asset in accelerating inclusive development and meeting the community’s evolving needs.
“With better governance, the government has a stronger foundation to drive investment, expand public services, and enhance the region’s competitiveness at both regional and national levels,” said Fairid.
At 69 years of age, Palangka Raya continues to look to the future with optimism. “Consistency in maintaining financial transparency and accountability is an important asset for achieving sustainable development, improving community welfare, and strengthening Palangka Raya’s position as the modern, inclusive, and competitive capital of Central Kalimantan Province,” he said.
Fairid invited all residents to participate actively and collaborate in the success of the various agendas prepared by the Palangka Raya municipal government. “This year’s series of commemorations is not only a celebration, but also a means to drive the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM), promote local culture, develop the tourism sector, and campaign for healthy living,” he said.
