Palangka Raya Extends Emergency Status as Forest and Land Fires Spread

The area affected by forest and land fires in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, continues to grow and is now approaching residential areas, specifically in Petuk Katimpun Village, Jekan Raya District, as of Tuesday. As of 10 August 2026, a total of 195 fire incidents have been recorded, with the total burnt area reaching 174.24 hectares. The increasing intensity of the fires has prompted the Palangka Raya city government to extend the emergency response status for forest and land fires and drought for a further 29 days.
