The Palangka Raya City Revenue Agency (Bapenda) in Central Kalimantan is striving to increase public compliance in paying taxes by waiving fines on the Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2). “The waiver of PBB-P2 fines applies until 30 June. Let us take advantage of this opportunity to promptly pay taxes or settle any outstanding tax arrears,” said Palangka Raya Mayor Fairid Naparin in Palangka Raya on Friday. He explained that the fine waiver for PBB-P2 is calculated based on the period of tax arrears. This step also serves as a commitment from the government to provide conveniences for the public and to increase own-source revenue (PAD) from the PBB-P2 sector. “The waiver of administrative fines is also aimed at encouraging residents’ compliance in settling PBB on the land and buildings they own,” he added. Previously, the Head of Bapenda Palangka Raya City, Emi Abriyani, also urged the local community to utilise the fine waiver moment to promptly pay their PBB-P2, which is a civic obligation. Furthermore, she stated that taxes paid by the public will ultimately be returned for public benefit, in the form of infrastructure development such as roads, education, health, public facilities, and others. “I reiterate once more that this is to increase PAD, as well as to facilitate the public in paying PBB, which is their obligation,” she said. She added that taxes and levies paid by the public contribute to own-source revenue. If PAD is high, more government programmes can be planned and realised; conversely, if PAD is low, the number of programmes that can be implemented is limited. To enhance public obedience and timeliness in paying taxes and levies, the Palangka Raya Government has also launched an online application for local tax payments. The launch of this app represents the city government’s innovation in utilising advanced technology to simplify and accelerate services to the public, including in the field of local tax payment services. “Meanwhile, tax payments can be made through BRImo (BRI), wondr (BNI), Betang Mobile (Bank Kalteng), myBCA (BCA), and PosPay (Post Office) channels, or also through nearby BRI BRILink agents via BRIVA,” she said. Meanwhile, for 2026, Bapenda Palangka Raya City targets own-source revenue from the PBB-P2 sector at Rp32 billion, while the current realisation of revenue from that tax sector has reached over Rp2.09 billion, or 6.53 percent of the total target.
