Palace: We are Deeply Concerned Over Recent Events
The Presidential Palace has expressed deep concern regarding the situation over the past few days, following a series of arrests of state officials suspected of corruption.
The Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that the administration is saddened after the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, and the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, were named corruption suspects. “In truth, we are very, very concerned these past two days, as these clearly unexpected and undesirable incidents continue to recur,” Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday, 4 June 2026.
According to him, President Prabowo Subianto has repeatedly warned his subordinates to avoid corruption in their daily duties. “Without fail, on various occasions, the President always reminds them,” said the Gerindra Party politician.
The government, Prasetyo added, respects the ongoing legal process. He also expressed hope that the designation of suspects and the detention of these officials would not disrupt public services. Regarding the positions held by those undergoing legal proceedings, Prasetyo noted that follow-up actions would be taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Attorney General’s Office named Dadan Hindayana a suspect in a corruption case within the BGN on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. A day later, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Silmy Karim a suspect in an alleged corruption case within the Directorate General of Immigration. Silmy is suspected of involvement in corruption related to the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals; the KPK suspects the irregularities occurred during his tenure as Director General of Immigration between 2023 and 2024.
Dadan Hindayana had been removed from his position at the BGN one day before his arrest by the Attorney General’s Office. Dadan was dismissed alongside two other BGN leaders: former Deputy Head of BGN, Inspector General (Ret.) Sony Sanjaya, and Lieutenant General (Ret.) Lodewyk Pusung. The Attorney General’s Office has now named all three as suspects in the alleged corruption case. Dadan’s position as Head of the BGN has been filled by Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, who previously served as the Deputy Head of the agency.
