Palace Reveals Reason Prabowo Signed Presidential Regulation on TNI Security for Prosecutors
Special Presidential Adviser for Communication Hasan Nasbi has revealed the reason President Prabowo Subianto signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 66 of 2025. The regulation contains provisions regarding security provided by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) for prosecutors.
This Perpres served as the basis for the TNI to guard the residence of former junior attorney general for special crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, before he was named a corruption suspect. At the time, the Attorney General’s Office requested military assistance to guard Febrie’s house while the police were investigating the case that later implicated him.
Hasan stated that the Perpres signed by Prabowo is intended to protect law enforcement officers. “At that time, the President issued the letter to ensure the smooth execution of law enforcement duties in the field without any disruption,” Hasan said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.
He explained that the regulation was issued so that law enforcement could proceed without hindrance on the ground. According to Hasan, the rule stipulates that law enforcement operations can be accompanied by both the TNI and the National Police.
Regarding the case that ensnared Febrie, Hasan remarked that President Prabowo is committed to eradicating corruption. He described the anti-corruption drive as a major campaign launched by Prabowo after taking office. “So the eradication of corruption will continue indiscriminately, that is the President’s commitment,” he said.
Febrie Adriansyah’s residence in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, was guarded by TNI personnel on 8 July 2026. At that time, the police were investigating a corruption case that implicated him. Febrie was subsequently named a suspect by police investigators on 11 July 2026.
Head of the TNI Information Centre, Brigadier General Muhammad Nas, denied that the security provided by dozens of military personnel at Febrie Adriansyah’s house was related to searches conducted by the police at several locations. “Regarding information about searches by the police at several locations, that is a separate process and falls under the authority of the police,” he said.
However, Nas confirmed that there was a request for security from the Attorney General’s Office at Febrie’s house. “It is true that the security was provided at the request of the Attorney General’s Office,” he said when confirmed by Tempo on Thursday, 9 July 2026.
Nas explained that the security had been coordinated in accordance with the mechanisms and provisions stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2025, which relates to the protection of prosecutors in carrying out their duties.
Article 9 of the Perpres outlines three forms of protection for prosecutors from the TNI. These include protection for the prosecutorial institution, support and assistance from TNI personnel in escorting prosecutors while carrying out their duties and functions, “and/or other forms of protection in accordance with strategic conditions and needs,” as stated in Article 9 paragraph 1 letter c.
