Palace Reveals President Prabowo's Sacrificial Cattle Budget of Rp 100 Billion from Presidential Assistance
The budget source is from the national budget (APBN) via the Presidential Assistance programme. Cattle prices vary based on weight and location, so we adjust prices per region, with approximately Rp 100 billion allocated,” Juri told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
A total of 1,098 cattle are distributed by President Prabowo, with 598 delivered to regional authorities and 500 to educational institutions and community leaders. The cattle were procured through coordination between the Ministry of State Secretariat via the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Agriculture, and local livestock and veterinary departments.
The government also collaborated with the Indonesian Cattle Breeders and Feeders Association (APPSI) and livestock providers to ensure all cattle meet the requirements and qualifications for sacrificial animals.
“Thus, for the provision of these 1,098 cattle, we have successfully secured them through collaboration with providers and parties ensuring all sacrificial animals meet the required qualifications,” he added.
He added that all sacrificial cattle come from local breeders, and this is expected to provide them with a momentum to increase productivity and livestock quality, given the President’s annual request for domestically sourced sacrificial cattle.
“All cattle sources are from local breeders, so this is expected to be a momentum for them to enhance productivity and quality, as they know the President will request them to supply sacrificial cattle each year,” he said.
Furthermore, the government hopes this initiative will drive the development of an independent national livestock industry while meeting domestic food needs, particularly beef. “The President also hopes this serves as a momentum for developing Indonesia’s livestock industry independently and fulfilling domestic food needs, especially beef,” he said.
