Palace Reveals Prabowo Asked Nanik S Deyang to Become BGN Supervisory Board

The Presidential Palace, through Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, has addressed the issue of Nanik S Deyang becoming the Supervisory Board of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Prasetyo revealed that President Prabowo Subianto indeed asked Nanik to fill the position. He explained that Nanik still has sufficient experience to help the BGN. “Yes, that is a request from the President. Because her experience is still considered able to help the BGN,” Prasetyo Hadi told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Prasetyo also responded to questions regarding Presidential Regulation No. 83 of 2024, where the BGN’s organisational structure only includes a Steering Committee, not a Supervisory Board. Prasetyo asserted that the meaning of Steering Committee is the same as Supervisory Board. He suggested the public should not get caught up in the terminology. “Actually, the meaning can be the same. Steering Committee or Supervisory Board in terms of carrying out their duties. We mean, perhaps we should not get trapped in which term is steering or supervisory. What matters is the function later,” said Prasetyo. “If indeed, based on the presidential regulation, the nomenclature in the organisational structure is Steering Committee and if its duties are also in line with what we want, then there is no problem either,” he continued. For context, former Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Nanik S Deyang, revealed the reason behind her resignation on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. She chose to focus on recovering her health after experiencing heart problems and undergoing hospital treatment. Through a social media post, Nanik recounted experiencing a decline in health for nine days and being hospitalised for about a week. After her health improved, she returned to attend cabinet meetings. Medical examination results showed a blockage in her heart artery. According to Nanik, the condition was influenced by high cholesterol and extreme work-related stress while leading the BGN.
