Palace Reveals PM Modi to Visit Prambanan Temple Today for Conservation Launch and Worship

President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are scheduled to launch a conservation cooperation for Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. This agenda is one of the highlights of PM Modi’s state visit to Indonesia and marks the strengthening of cultural diplomacy between two countries that share historical and civilisational links to Hinduism spanning more than a thousand years. In addition to inaugurating the conservation cooperation for the UNESCO World Heritage site, PM Modi is also scheduled to perform worship at the Prambanan Temple complex. The moment is considered symbolically significant as it brings together diplomacy, cultural preservation, and respect for a sacred Hindu site within a single official visit. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi will travel together to Yogyakarta to attend a series of events at the Prambanan Temple area. ‘Today, Prime Minister Modi together with President Prabowo will depart for Yogyakarta to visit Prambanan Temple, one of the largest Hindu temple sites and a UNESCO World Heritage site,’ Prasetyo said in a voice statement to the media on Wednesday. He noted that one of the main agendas of the visit is the signing of a conservation cooperation for Prambanan Temple that has been agreed upon by both countries. ‘Among the agendas is the signing of a cooperation for the conservation of Prambanan Temple,’ he said. In addition to attending the state event, PM Modi will also take the opportunity to worship at the temple complex, which was built in the 9th century. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya affirmed that the joint visit by the two leaders to Prambanan is a form of respect for one of Indonesia’s greatest cultural heritages, which holds historical and spiritual value for Hindus. ‘This morning, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi will together visit Prambanan Temple.
