Palace Reveals Content of Prabowo-Megawati Meeting, Geopolitics Discussed
Presidential Chief of Staff Prasetyo Hadi revealed the content of the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Indonesia’s fifth president as well as PDIP Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. Pras disclosed that many topics were discussed during the two-hour meeting.
“There were many things. Many indeed. The meeting lasted around two hours and a lot was discussed,” Pras told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).
Pras stated that the meeting was also marked by an exchange of views on various national issues. The two shared experiences as national leaders.
“There was a lot of exchanging views because, after all, Mrs Mega has served as vice president and also as president, so she certainly has experiences to share,” he said.
Pras noted that Megawati has held positions as vice president and president, possessing much experience to impart. Although each leadership era has its own distinct challenges, such experiences are still considered valuable for consideration.
“But as a leader, it is certainly very good to be able to provide input to each other and share experiences for the progress of our nation and country,” he said.
Pras did not deny, when asked, whether current geopolitical issues were also discussed in the meeting. “Yes,” Pras replied.
The meeting took place at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3/2026). Prabowo posted a moment from the meeting on his Instagram account.
