Palace Respects Police Probe into Three Corruption Cases, Reaffirms Prabowo's Commitment
Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi has responded to raids carried out by the National Police (Polri) related to three corruption cases. Pras affirmed that the government respects all ongoing legal processes.
“We all respect every legal process being carried out by law enforcement, in this case the police. We also uphold the principle of presumption of innocence to avoid speculation and unproductive judgements,” Pras told reporters on Friday (10/7/2026).
Prasetyo said President Prabowo Subianto has had a strong commitment to eradicating corruption from the very beginning. According to him, Prabowo has repeatedly reminded the entire government apparatus to put their house in order and maintain integrity.
“From the start, the President has had a very strong commitment to eradicating corruption. He has repeatedly reminded the entire government apparatus, especially state officials, to reform themselves and clean up before legal enforcement or cleansing measures are carried out,” he said.
Pras stressed that Prabowo views corruption as one of the major problems that must be resolved. Nevertheless, he said the government must not give up in its efforts to improve governance.
“The President, as Head of State and Head of Government, continues to affirm that corruption is one of this nation’s biggest homework,” he said.
“However, whatever challenges we face, we must not give up and must not lose heart. We must continue to improve governance, strengthen integrity, and build a clean government,” Pras continued.
Furthermore, Pras invited all parties to maintain conduciveness and unity amid the ongoing legal process. According to him, national stability is important to ensure that development programmes can continue.
“Equally important is maintaining conduciveness, stability, and unity as children of the nation. Only with a safe, united, and mutually trusting atmosphere can we resolve the nation’s various problems and accelerate the implementation of development programmes for the welfare of all Indonesians,” Pras said.
It was previously reported that the National Police raided several locations, including the de’Clan café in Cipete and a luxury house in Sentul. The police also seized evidence in the form of gold bars and hundreds of billions of rupiah in cash.
Chief of the Polri Anti-Corruption Task Force (Kakortastipidkor), Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, said the investigation into these cases is being handled jointly with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate through a joint investigation. He said the cases are alleged corruption at PLN related to coal procurement that triggered blackouts; the ASABRI case; and the settlement of debts owed by PT CBS to PT KNI, a subsidiary of state-owned Krakatau Steel.
“Currently, the Polri Task Force is conducting a joint investigation with the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police in handling corruption and money laundering cases, namely the PLN coal case, ASABRI from 2020 to 2025, and the alleged corruption case in the debt settlement process of PT CBS to PT KNI from 2020 to 2025,” he said.
Director of Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Victor Dean Mackbon, subsequently gave an explanation regarding two of the cases. He said the raids were related to alleged corruption and money laundering in the legal handling process by certain state officials in the PT Asabri and Jiwasraya cases.
“First, alleged corruption and/or money laundering in the legal handling process by certain state officials in the PT Asabri (Persero) and/or Asuransi Jiwasraya cases, which occurred within the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police between 2020 and 2025,” he said.
The second case concerns alleged corruption and money laundering in a debt settlement process. He has not yet explained who the suspects are in these cases.
“Second, alleged corruption and/or money laundering in the process of settling the debts or obligations of PT CBS to PT KNI by state officials, which occurred within the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police between 2020 and 2025,” he said.
The police are investigating the case under Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12 letter b of the Anti-Corruption Law and/or Article 606 paragraphs 1 and/or 3, Article 3 and Article 5 of the Money Laundering Law, or Article 607 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 607 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 20 of the Criminal Code. For reference, Article 12 letter e of the Anti-Corruption Law concerns extortion and Article 12 letter b concerns bribery. The police have not yet identified the suspects in this case.
