Palace: Prabowo Invites Academics to Collaborate in Solving National Issues
President Prabowo Subianto has invited the academic community, including deans, professors, and rectors, to jointly contribute to solving various national problems through their respective fields of expertise.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, after attending the closing of the National Convention on Science, Technology, and Industry (KSTI) in Jakarta on Sunday, said the President regards deans, professors, and rectors as the best individuals the nation possesses due to their scientific capacity and expertise.
“For the President, deans, professors, and rectors are the smartest individuals a nation has, and from that, he certainly holds the view that in order to solve all our nation’s current problems, he wants to invite the entire academic community to come together,” said Prasetyo.
“Individuals who have expertise in their respective fields, let us work together to bring out our best abilities in our respective fields, but within one national framework,” Prasetyo stated.
Regarding President Prabowo’s presence at the event’s closing, Prasetyo said it was at the request of the organising committee. “There was a request, if the President had free time, from the committee asking whether he would be willing to close this convention and perhaps at the same time provide further directives and views. Earlier, we all learned a lot of new knowledge from the President,” he said.
Previously, at the opening of the national convention, Prabowo stirred the spirit of the attending academic community to direct their thoughts, findings, and innovations towards the nation’s progress and the people’s welfare. Therefore, Prabowo stated that he always involves experts in running the government, including in strategic positions.
“From the beginning, I have been aware of the important role of scientists and professors, and because of that, if you observe, in almost every key government sector, I include professors in very decisive positions,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo then explained that this policy aligns with the leadership philosophy he adheres to, where a leader, likened to a captain, must be assisted by a reliable crew so the ship can sail safely to its destination. “It is the same in all fields. It is not the technology, it is not the equipment. It is the man and the woman behind the equipment. This is what we realise, it is useless to have the most sophisticated aircraft if the pilot is not skilled,” the President said.
