Palace Issues Circular Directing Officials Against Excessive Eid Open House Celebrations

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has issued a circular regarding open house activities for Eid 2026 directed at all government officials, urging them not to conduct excessively lavish celebrations.

“We are appealing for officials not to be excessive when organising open house or halalbihalal activities,” Prasetyo told journalists at the Defence Ministry office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (17 March 2026).

Prasetyo stated that many citizens still face difficult economic circumstances. For this reason, officials have been asked to be more sensitive and maintain social empathy when celebrating the religious holiday.

“Because regardless, there are still many of our fellow citizens who are in challenging economic conditions,” he said.

Prasetyo did not reveal whether President Prabowo Subianto will hold an open house at the Presidential Palace, stating that no decision has yet been made on this matter.

“Not yet, no decision has been made,” he remarked.
