Palace Invites Public to Pray for Late Vice President Try Sutrisno
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has conveyed the Palace’s statement regarding the passing of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, General (Retired) Try Sutrisno. On behalf of the Palace, he expressed profound condolences over the death of this distinguished national figure.
“Concerning the news of the passing of sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno, we certainly feel very deep sorrow,” Prasetyo said in his statement on Monday (2/3).
He emphasised that the late Vice President was one of the nation’s finest sons, who had dedicated and devoted his entire life to the service of the nation and state.
“He was one of Indonesia’s finest sons who dedicated himself and devoted his entire life to the nation and state,” he said.
Prasetyo invited the public to join in prayer for the late Vice President, asking that he be forgiven for all his sins and transgressions, and that all his good deeds be accepted by Almighty God.
“Let us offer prayers so that he may be forgiven all his sins and mistakes, and that all his good deeds be accepted,” he said.
He also noted that the Vice President’s passing occurred during the holy month of Ramadan. According to him, this occasion serves as a reminder for the younger generation to emulate the dedication he exemplified.
“Especially as he has been called to meet Allah during this holy month, during Ramadan. Surely let us, the younger generation, the next generation, emulate what he has demonstrated in providing the finest service to the nation and state,” he stressed.
The government, he continued, also conveyed condolences to his bereaved family. The passing of Try Sutrisno represents a loss for the Indonesian nation.
General (Retired) Try Sutrisno passed away at the age of 90 years and 3 months at the Central Army Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Central Jakarta on Monday (2 March). He breathed his last in the CICU room, Ward 207 on the 2nd floor at 06:58 WIB, following a decline in his health condition.
Try Sutrisno was known as a figure who could serve as inspiration for the younger generation in pursuing their aspirations, despite coming from a modest background. During his lifetime, he was recognised as one of the military figures who subsequently held strategic positions in the New Order government.
