Palace Has Not Discussed Replacement for Deputy Minister of Agriculture After Sudaryono's Appointment to BGN
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has stated that the government has not yet discussed who will fill the position of Deputy Minister of Agriculture. The post became vacant after Sudaryono was officially inaugurated as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
According to Prasetyo, the discussion regarding Sudaryono’s replacement has not been held because the process of changing officials has only just taken place. "Indeed, it has not been discussed yet because the appointment of the old official, Mas Sudaryono, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture who was asked to become Head of BGN, was only yesterday," he said when met at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Thursday (23/7).
Prasetyo also asked the public to be patient while waiting for the government’s decision regarding the filling of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture position. President Prabowo Subianto previously inaugurated Sudaryono as Head of the National Nutrition Agency on Wednesday (22/7) afternoon, replacing Nanik Sudaryati Deyang who resigned from the position.
After the inauguration at the State Palace, Jakarta, Sudaryono confirmed that he had relinquished his position as Deputy Minister of Agriculture. The move was taken to avoid holding concurrent positions within the government. "As for who the replacement is and so on, that is certainly the prerogative of the President," he said.
Meanwhile, the resignation of Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as Head of BGN was confirmed by the President’s Special Assistant for Communication and Policy, Dirgayuza Setiawan, on Wednesday (22/7) morning. Through a statement uploaded on her personal social media, Nanik explained that her decision to step down as Head of BGN was related to her health condition. She stated that she had to undergo heart treatment abroad. "I told the President with a thousand apologies that it seemed I had to resign as Head of BGN for the sake of my health, and because the President was concerned and felt sorry for me, the President agreed. However, I was asked to continue overseeing BGN," Nanik wrote.
