Palace considering hiring Thai star

BANGKOK: Officials from England's first division club Crystal Palace are scheduled to come to Bangkok next week to discuss a contract to hire Thai teen-age star Teerathep Vinothai, his father said Friday.

Teerathep, 16, is currently on a three-year scholarship training contract with Crystal Palace, which apparently wants to change the contract to make him a full-time player, his father, Thepchai Vinothai, told The Associated Press.

Teerathep went to England when he was 14 on a high school scholarship obtained with the support of the National Football Association. He signed the training scholarship contract with Crystal Palace in July, 2001. --AP
