Palace Confirms Prabowo's NTT Visit Is Being Planned and Requires Thorough Preparation

The Palace has not yet been able to confirm the schedule for President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to earthquake victims in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said the government is still monitoring conditions on the ground first.

“We will see later, we will see the conditions on the ground,” Prasetyo said at the DPR Building in Central Jakarta, as quoted on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.

He explained that a presidential visit requires extra preparation. On the other hand, the government’s main priority at present is focusing on handling the impact caused by the earthquake.

“Sometimes in the early stages, given the conditions on the ground, we choose to focus more on addressing the problems first,” Prasetyo said.

“Because the presence of a President certainly requires preparation and facilities that are not like an ordinary visit,” he added.

Prasetyo said the central government continues to monitor conditions and needs in the affected areas. A number of ministers have also already gone down to NTT earlier.

“The Head of Basarnas reports to us every day, then BNPB also reports, and we also appreciate that many provincial governments and other regional governments are also sending assistance, including for example from the Central Java Provincial Government,” he concluded.
