Palace Confirms Febrie's Resignation as Jampidsus Does Not Require Presidential Decree

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has confirmed that the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah from the position of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) does not require a Presidential Decree (Keppres). Prasetyo explained that the resignation submitted by Febrie to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin was personal in nature. He stated it did not require a Keppres issued by President Prabowo Subianto. “If it is a resignation, of course, it does not use a Keppres because the resignation is personal from the individual who declares they are stepping down from the capacity of the office they hold,” Prasetyo told reporters on Monday (13/7).

Prasetyo noted that a Keppres would only be issued by the President for the process of appointing a new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes. He confirmed that President Prabowo has not yet received a proposal for Febrie’s replacement from the Attorney General. “The mechanism is that the position is appointed and determined by the President through a Keppres based on a proposal from the Attorney General, which we have not yet received as of today,” he said.

Previously, the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) officially transferred the handling of three alleged corruption and money laundering cases to the Attorney General’s Office. The transfer occurred after investigators named two suspects, namely private sector figure Don Ritto and former Jampidsus official Febrie Adriansyah. Kortastipidkor Chief Inspector General Totok Suharyanto stated that the case transfer was the result of an agreement between the Police and the Attorney General’s Office as a form of synergy in handling cases.

Totok explained that during the investigation, investigators had examined 15 witnesses and two experts. Additionally, investigators conducted searches at several locations previously known to the public. Based on his role, Don Ritto is suspected of committing money laundering originating from corruption. Meanwhile, Febrie is suspected of involvement in alleged corruption and/or money laundering during the legal handling of state officials in the PT Asabri case and other alleged corruption cases. Febrie is charged with violating provisions in the Corruption Eradication Law and the Money Laundering Law. Suspect Don Ritto has been detained at the Polda Metro Jaya.
