Palace Claims No Reshuffle Plans for Early August

Minister of State Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia, Prasetyo Hadi, has responded to circulating rumours of a reshuffle of the Red-and-White Cabinet in early August 2026.

He claimed that no reshuffle is planned for the time being. Should one occur, Prasetyo said, it would only be to fill positions that are currently vacant.

“A reshuffle? For now, there isn’t one. If, apologies, if for instance there were one, it would perhaps be to fill the vacancies in several positions left behind following changes by the previous officeholders,” Prasetyo said in an interview aboard the Nusantara Explorer train from Batang to Jakarta on Thursday (30 July).

Several positions in the cabinet are currently vacant. For example, the seat of Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections has been empty since Silmy Karim was named a suspect in an alleged corruption case. Meanwhile, the post of Deputy Minister of Agriculture was vacated by Sudaryono, who now serves as Head of the National Food Agency (BGN).

“Yes, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture is one example,” he said.

Nevertheless, Prasetyo reiterated that President Prabowo has not yet held any discussions regarding a reshuffle plan.

“Oh yes, the [Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections] post is also vacant. But frankly, we have not yet — the President himself has not yet discussed any plan for a cabinet replacement or reshuffle,” he said.
