Palace appreciates homebound travellers and officers managing smooth Eid exodus
Jakarta — The State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, has expressed appreciation to the public who undertook their homebound journeys in phases during the holiday period and to officers working in the field to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the Eid exodus.
“We would also like to extend our thanks to all members of the public who have made use of this extended holiday period by choosing to return home as we had hoped, so that there was no congestion on any particular day,” Prasetyo stated at the Defence Ministry in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Prasetyo assessed that this dispersed travel pattern also supported the smooth flow of the Eid exodus traffic.
Additionally, the government has expressed appreciation to the various officials involved in the field, including personnel from the National Police, Transport Ministry, and several state-owned enterprises (SOEs) operating in the transport and logistics sectors, such as PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) and PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero).
Officers from these various agencies were credited with working to maintain traffic flow at various points, including land routes and ferries.
The government has also engaged the Indonesian military to support smooth transportation when necessary, including through the provision of fleets such as naval vessels to assist the movement of homebound travellers and return traffic.
“The TNI has also been requested by the President, when required, to provide transportation assets under their command, including naval vessels, to help ensure the smooth flow of the Eid exodus and the subsequent return journey to their respective regions,” Prasetyo said.
President Prabowo Subianto, during a Full Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday (13 March), requested that naval vessels belonging to the Indonesian military be made available to support the smooth flow of the 2026 Eid exodus.
“It is possible that the Navy and Army have vessels that could be deployed and coordinated with the Transport Minister,” Prabowo stated.
The President requested TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to mobilise the assets available to the TNI and National Police to help ensure smooth homebound travel.
Prabowo mentioned the possibility that vessels belonging to the Navy or Army could be coordinated with Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi to be utilised in support of transportation during the homebound travel period.
