PAL receives bomb threat
MANILA (DPA): A Philippine Airlines (PAL) plane was forced
yesterday to abort its flight to Hong Kong and return to Manila
after control tower officials received a threat saying there was
a bomb aboard the jet.
No explosives were found, but the Boeing 747-200 jet carrying
125 passengers and six flight attendants returned to Ninoy Aquino
International Airport.
Those aboard were evacuated when fire trucks, ambulances and
bomb disposal teams met the plane on the runway.
Bomb experts with sniffer dogs searched the jumbo jet for more
than two hours, unloading all luggage for inspection. After no
bomb was found, the flight was cleared for takeoff shortly after
noon.
