Pakistan's army chief visits Iran to push for Middle East peace

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Iran on Monday (24/8) as part of Islamabad’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East region. This was conveyed by the Pakistani military. Munir’s visit will focus on efforts to achieve a peaceful, lasting and comprehensive resolution to the conflict in the Middle East, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military’s media wing, in a statement. The visit took place as Pakistan continues diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue and de-escalation amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei previously said the visit would continue Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen peace and security in the region.
