A Pakistani national went viral for causing a commotion in the Ciledug area, Tangerang City. The Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Tangerang subsequently apprehended the individual.

This action was taken after the Immigration Office coordinated with the Ciledug Police Sector and the Tangerang City Police Resort. Residents who felt disturbed reported the Pakistani national.

“We have coordinated with relevant agencies as a form of the Tangerang Immigration Office’s swift response in addressing public complaints and reports regarding the presence and activities of foreign nationals deemed disturbing and disruptive to public order,” stated the Head of the Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Tangerang, Hasanin, to reporters on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

The information was received by the Immigration Office on Saturday (11/4) from the Ciledug Police Sector. The individual caused a disturbance in the Ciledug area, leading to his arrest by police, after which he was temporarily handed over to the Tangerang City Social Services Office.

“On Saturday, 11 April 2026, we received information that the Ciledug Police Sector handed over one suspected foreign national who caused the disturbance to the Tangerang City Social Services Office, as no identity documents were found, preventing the Ciledug Police Sector from identifying his nationality,” said the Head of the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division of the Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office in Tangerang, Bong Bong Prakoso Napitupulu.

The Pakistani national went viral on social media for causing a disturbance and attacking residents around Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, North Larangan, Ciledug, Tangerang City, Banten.

The man is suspected of carrying out an assault and creating a disturbance by striking nearby residents and passing motorcyclists with a long bamboo stick, resulting in commotion, traffic congestion, and damage to one mobile phone belonging to an online motorcycle taxi driver.

“We conducted data checks through the Immigration Database as well as the Face Recognition and Information System of the Directorate General of Immigration, yielding results that the foreign national, initialled MUR, is a Pakistani national, male, approximately 40 years old,” said Bong.

The Pakistani national is known by the initials MUR. He holds a business visit residence permit valid until May 2026. He is suspected of having a mental disorder.

“The individual could not produce travel documents or a national passport. To date, the motive and reason for the individual’s rampage and disturbance at the scene are under examination and investigation. We have obtained information that the individual has a mental health disorder, resulting in unstable emotions and difficulty in communication,” he explained.

The Pakistani national was ultimately taken to Dr Soeharto Herrdjan Mental Hospital in Grogol, Jakarta. Further handling awaits the results of observation from the hospital.

“Considering the individual’s mental and psychological condition, we have brought MUR to Dr Soeharto Herrdjan Mental Hospital in Grogol, Jakarta, for consultation with a psychiatrist, and indeed the doctor concluded that MUR has an acute psychotic disorder and falls into the category of mental disorder, so we will conduct observation first, and for further handling,” he stated.

Currently, the examination process is ongoing, and the Tangerang Immigration Office continues to coordinate with the Directorate General of Immigration and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Jakarta. The office assures that the law enforcement process will proceed while not overlooking human rights.
