Pakistani Interior Minister to Visit Iran to Discuss 'New Proposals'

Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to visit Iran on Saturday to discuss ‘a number of new proposals’ regarding the diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan concerning the conflict between the United States and Iran, according to Pakistani sources reported by Anadolu. Naqvi will meet with senior Iranian leaders to discuss several new proposals intended to end the ongoing deadlock and reach a temporary agreement between the US and Iran. Sources in Pakistan added that the minister will also discuss efforts to revive a second round of negotiations between the two parties to end the conflict. Iran’s semi-official news agency, Mehr, also reported that Naqvi will visit the country to hold talks amidst Islamabad’s continuous mediation efforts. The visit follows a meeting between Naqvi and Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Friday in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, where both were attending a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s interior ministers. Naqvi is directly involved in negotiations with Tehran as Pakistan mediates the possibility of reaching an agreement between the United States and Iran to permanently end the war, which commenced on 28 February.
