Pakistan selects its new envoy to RI
JAKARTA: Pakistan has selected Maj. Gen. (ret) Ali Baz as its new ambassador to Indonesia, Pakistani daily newspaper The International The News (Jong Group) reported from Karachi.
Pakistan's present ambassador to Indonesia Maj. Gen. Syed Mustafa Anwer Husain, who submitted his credentials to then president Abdurrahman Wahid on Sept. 15, 2000, confirmed the news.
"I have already received my transfer order. But I may leave Indonesia in either February or March," Ambassador Anwer Husain, who is also the former instructor of Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf, told The Jakarta Post recently.
During Anwer Husain's time here, the relations between Indonesia and Pakistan have entered into a new phase when Musharraf visited Indonesia in April 2005.
The cooperation between both the Muslim-majority states in economic, trade, education and defense sectors has been growing significantly. -- JP
