Pakistan says US-Iran technical talks to resume next week
Technical-level talks between the United States and Iran will resume next week after a temporary pause, according to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The technical talks will resume next week. This is a temporary pause and the negotiations will continue,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andarabi told reporters in Islamabad on Wednesday. According to Andarabi, the technical discussions will resume at the beginning of next week after talks in Burgenstock, Switzerland, lasted several hours between Iran and the United States on Monday (22/6). Andarabi said the Islamabad MoU—which was signed by the presidents of the United States and Iran last week—as well as the follow-up summit in Switzerland underline the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as effective means to resolve disputes and ease tensions.
