Pakistan launches air strikes on several Afghan provinces
Moscow (ANTARA) — Pakistan has launched air strikes against several areas in the Afghan provinces of Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia, though there are no reports of casualties, according to Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid on Friday, 27 February.
“The cowardly Pakistani military has conducted air strikes in several areas of Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia; fortunately, there are no reports of casualties,” Mujahid said on platform X.
At the same time, Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Spokesperson for Foreign Media, Mosharraf Zaidi, stated that the death toll among Afghan forces in cross-border clashes with Pakistan has risen to 133 individuals.
“A total of 133 Afghan Taliban members have been confirmed killed, with more than 200 wounded. There are estimated to be more casualties from strikes against military targets in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar. A number of Taliban Afghan positions have been destroyed, and nine others have been captured,” Zaidi wrote on X.
He added that more than 80 tanks, artillery guns, and armoured personnel carriers belonging to Afghanistan have been destroyed.
Last week, Pakistan launched air strikes on the Afghan provinces of Nangarhar and Paktika, which according to Afghan authorities killed and wounded dozens of civilians, including women and children.
On the evening of Thursday, 26 February local time, Afghanistan announced it had launched a large-scale military operation against Pakistani forces along the border in response to the bombing campaign.
