Pakistan cricket board suspended after fiasco
KARACHI (AFP): The Pakistan Cricket Board was suspended by the
government on Friday over the World Cup fiasco in which Pakistan
was accused of deliberately losing the final to Australia.
President Mohammad Rafiq Tarrar, who is also patron of the
board, replaced the management team with a two-member ad hoc
committee headed by Mujeeb-ur Rehman.
Rehman is a brother of Senator Saif-ur Rehman, chairman of the
government's Accountability Bureau which is investigating charges
against players involved in last month's World Cup one-day
tournament in England. The other member of the committee is Javed
Zaman, a cousin of former cricket hero Imran Khan.
