Pakistan’s Air Force carried out airstrikes overnight against fuel tanks belonging to Afghan airline Kam Air at Kandahar airport in southern Afghanistan, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for Afghanistan’s Taliban leadership, on Friday.

“Pakistan’s military regime attacked fuel tanks belonging to private airline Kam Air near Kandahar airport,” Mujahid wrote on social media platform X.

Kam Air supplies fuel for civil airlines and United Nations aircraft, the spokesman stated. He added that a fuel tank belonging to national entrepreneur Haji Khanzadeh was also targeted in the Pakistani Air Force strikes.

Afghan provinces, including Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika, experienced attacks in the early morning hours with heavy civilian casualties, Mujahid said. Kabul has strongly condemned Pakistan’s actions.

“Pakistan’s military regime’s barbaric actions in the final days of the holy month of Ramadan are inhumane and will face consequences,” the spokesman stated.

Last week, Pakistan conducted airstrikes against alleged militant hideouts in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. According to Afghan authorities, dozens of civilians were killed and wounded in those strikes.

On 26 February, Afghanistan launched military operations against Pakistani bases along the Durand Line, the Afghanistan-Pakistan border that Kabul does not recognise, in response to the bombing campaign.

Pakistan subsequently announced the launch of Operation Ghazab lil Haq in response to what it termed “unprovoked firing” by Afghanistan across several border sectors.
