Paintings shown for Australian Day

JAKARTA: To commemorate the anniversary of Australia, which
falls on Jan. 26, the Australian Alumni Association and the
Australia Indonesia Institute are cooperating with Prime Global
Link Pty. Ltd. to stage a painting exhibition.

The Friendship through Art exhibition will be officially
opened on Jan. 28 and will continue until Feb. 3 at the lobby of
the Gran Melia Hotel on Jl. HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.

The Australian Embassy Jakarta Counsellor for Cultural
Affairs, Geoffrey Leach, said in a release Tuesday that the
exhibition, which will display 70 paintings, was the second
following the successful initial show at the World Trade Center
on Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Central Jakarta, last year.

Among the painters are Sumadi S. (formerly Indonesian
Ambassador to Mexico), Totong R. Oesman, Sugiapto Trisna of
Indonesia and Michael J. Summers, Nelson Nurse and Todd J. Cutten
of Australia. -- JP
