Painting expo in Bandung

BANDUNG, West Java: Twenty-five Indonesian painters will hold
a month-long exhibition starting Wednesday at Topas Galeria.

Minister of Tourism, Post and Telecommunication Joop Ave is
scheduled to open the exhibition which will display more than 200
works from leading artists in the country, including the late
Affandi, Kartika (Affandi's daughter), and Popo Iskandar.

The exhibition is entitled Bandung Kota Kembang (Bandung the
Flower City), a nickname the city was once renowned for.

The exhibition will also display art collections belonging to
the artists including bonsai, statues and rare plants, Barli
Sasmitawinata, the organizer, told reporters on Monday. (pet/01)
