Painting exhibition by Yos Suprapto

JAKARTA (JP): The National Gallery will open a 10-day painting
exhibition by artist Yos Suprapto on Friday, which also includes
a cultural dialogue, a collaborative artwork project and a
workshop.

There will be a total of 85 paintings exhibited by the
gallery, which is located on Jl. Medan Merdeka Timur in Central
Jakarta.

Yos, who has been living in Australia for the past 20 years,
will collaborate with other artists to create a mural portraying
the nation's journey.

According to Yos, such cultural activities are essential
because the current social, political and economic problems faced
by Indonesia reflect society's cultural perceptions, which are
still based on feudalism. (hdn)
