Painting exhibition at Melia Purosani

YOGYAKARTA: As many as 40 paintings by local novice artists grouped at the Rara Studio of Tirtonirmolo, Kasihan subdistrict, Bantul regency, are being exhibited at the five-star Melia Purosani Hotel's mezanine floor on Jl. Suryotomo from April 1 to April 30, 2005.

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. the exhibition takes diversity in forms, colors and styles as its central theme.

Among the participating artists are Rara Supomo, Davi, Marsoyo, Guritno, Deni Junaidi and Irwan S.

The hotel's public relations manager Atik Damarjati said that the exhibition space was provided for free to the artists as a way for the hotel to show its appreciation to upcoming local artists.

"By giving them free space, they will have a better chance of meeting with a wider community. That will, hopefully, make their paintings become more recognized and appreciated," Atik said. --JP
