JAKARTA (JP): City Military Headquarters has urged residents
to page immediately its military offices' special forces on
motorcycles for any type of crime they witness.

City military spokesman Lt. Col. Didi Supandi said yesterday
that the active participation of the public is badly needed to
fight crimes during the Idul Fitri festivities, when many people
leave the city to celebrate the Islamic holidays in their
hometowns.

Each military office will provide personnel who will offer
their services 24 hours a day. They will respond via radio paging
of Starpac (Telp. 390-2222), Didi said.

Those who need help or witness crimes near their houses can
call immediately the armed personnel via number 19201 for the
Central Jakarta military office, 19202 for North Jakarta, 19203
for West Jakarta, 19204 for South Jakarta, 19205 for East
Jakarta, 19206 for Tangerang and 19207 for Bekasi.

"I hope that these free-of-charge public service numbers can
be properly used by all Jakartans to help the authorities reduce
the number of crimes," Didi said. (bsr)
