Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Pademangan Police Sector facilitated a short-distance running event, or ‘Fun Night Run’, on Jalan GOR Pademangan Barat in the Pademangan district of North Jakarta on Friday night (6 March). ‘This activity aims to ensure that nighttime activities during the holy month of Ramadan are coordinated, orderly and in accordance with the applicable laws,’ said AKP Daniel Dirgala, the Pademangan Police Chief, in a written statement from Jakarta, on Saturday. He noted that, amid the dynamics in the Pademangan community, short-distance running activities are often carried out spontaneously by youths during Ramadan nights and without clear regulation. Such conditions have the potential to create security or public order disturbances, including possible clashes between individuals and disruption to traffic flow. ‘Therefore, the Pademangan Police Sector facilitates it to run safely and in an orderly manner,’ Daniel said. Through this activity, there is a sense of closeness between the police and local residents in maintaining security and public order. The participants themselves are residents of Pademangan, numbering 40 people aged 10 to 25. Some Pademangan Police Sector personnel also took part. He reminded participants to avoid fighting, as there is no benefit. ‘We also give prizes to the winners — first, second, third and fourth place. The prizes do not need to be disclosed, so that it becomes a charitable act,’ he said.
